Manager, Architecture and IT Assurance Services

Reporting to the Executive Director, Technology Solutions and Vendor Accountability, this role ensures that products, platforms, and integration services align with organizational strategy, the provincial blueprint, and industry best practices.

The Manager, Architecture and IT Assurance Services will lead a team of subject matter experts to provide strategic and operational oversight across enterprise architecture, including IT security, solution design, and IT assurance functions in support of secure, interoperable digital health solutions. The role also supports the management and oversight of ongoing compliance with provincial standards, privacy and security assessments and other IT assurances, as well as continuous improvement of OntarioMD’s industry IT accreditations.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Technology Solutions and Vendor Accountability, the Manager, Architecture and IT Assurance Services is responsible for:

1. Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead a team of architects and security analysts, providing mentorship and guidance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Development, Conformance and Certification, and Products and Services, to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and program requirements.
2. Architectural and IT Assurance Leadership:
  • Provide architectural and IT assurance leadership and support, developing and/or championing a strategic direction that aligns community-based EMRs with provincial digital health standards, architectural roadmaps, and industry best practices.
  • Lead/support the creation of clinical, business and system requirements necessary to support the service development lifecycle of digital health systems and services
  • Ensure recognized provincial privacy and security control frameworks are applied and maintained, and that assessments are conducted as required to meet minimum privacy and security best practices.
  • Provide architecture and IT assurance subject matter expertise and support to cross-organizational teams (e.g.: project, product and field teams) as well as external stakeholders (e.g.: Hospitals, EMR vendors). This includes design and development considerations, 3rd party audits, reviewing TRA/PIAs, Tier 3 incident response and remediation, etc.
  • Ensure secure integration and interoperability across EMR, EHR, and provincial digital health services.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of architectural artifacts, standards, and reference models.
  • Identify and manage risks and issues, including escalations as required.
3. ​​​​​​Support OntarioMD’s industry IT accreditation including audit readiness, auditing, control monitoring, and remediation activities (e.g.: ISO 27001 and SOC2 Type II)

4. Support the development of new business opportunities to advance OntarioMD’s priorities: 
  • Evaluate, prepare and/or support planning of scope, resources, timeline and cost necessary to deliver on integration roadmaps, strategies, plans for new and emerging business development opportunities.
5. Develop and maintain stakeholder relations:
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, EMR vendors, and clinicians.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative internal culture.
  • Lead and participate in stakeholder workgroups and committees that advance OntarioMD strategic and operational objectives.
  • Participate and present at digital health conferences and events that promote OntarioMD brand and achievements.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to internal and external stakeholder leadership including executive as required.
Requirements that are important to us:
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Health Administration, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • CPHIMS-CA, ITIL, PMP certification is an asset.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience driving information technology initiatives in an architectural capacity.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience driving and supporting Ontario digital health service or integration initiatives throughout their development lifecycles in an architectural capacity.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience leading a team of IT professionals, providing day-to-day direction and performance feedback.
  • Experience conducting IT assessments, preparing service strategies, plans and solution proposals.
  • Strong system, security and data architecture background designing or integrating with Ontario digital health services leveraging related provincial/industry standards.
  • Strong application architecture background throughout the development lifecycle using recognized industry tools.
  • Experience and familiarity with community-based healthcare IT solutions (e.g., EMRs).
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining productive working relationships within a complex multi-stakeholder healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated, excellent written communication, oral presentation, and time-management skills.

Base salary range of $105,000 - $135,000 annually; final compensation offered will be determined based on experience, skill set, education, training, and internal equity.
