Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations and Support, the Manager, Operations manages a team of staff in the day-to-day operation of OntarioMD Corporate IT services, as well as OntarioMD products and services. A key member of the broader Operations and Support team, this role works closely with application support as well as other OntarioMD partners in the design, development, implementation, operation, and support of a variety of administrative and health care related systems. You will oversee the infrastructure and operations of various systems, and ensure IT management, information security, and IT operations best practices are followed, manage and reduce risk, and enhance the organization’s technical agility.

Working closely with the Senior Manager, Operations and Support, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage a team of technical staff who are involved in the infrastructure and operations of various systems.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with OMA Operations staff in the delivery of corporate IT services, including collaborating and planning technical changes, device refreshes, and escalated incidents.
  • Manage and/or contribute to various operations-led initiatives and coordinate with the Application Support Team lead on shared resources.
  • Collaborate with the Application Support Team to handle escalations and troubleshooting advanced issues related to the infrastructure and operations of various systems.
  • Participate in the requirements, design, build, and deploy processes for the infrastructure components of various systems and ensure proper documentation.
  • Define, evaluate, implement, and monitor corporate IT security policies, standards, and baselines.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with OMA, Ontario Health, internal partners, and vendors.
  • Establish, evolve and maintain alignment to the corporate IT management, information security, and IT operations best practices for the organization and our products/services.
  • Manage service and license contract renewals.
  • Monitor IT operational expenditures and seeking opportunities for cost reduction.
Requirements that are important to us:
  • 5 -10 years’ experience in Information Technology ideally in the Healthcare sector.
  • 2+ years’ demonstrated management and team building experience in an IT environment. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Microsoft Windows technologies including Windows Server, SharePoint, Exchange, MS-SQL in virtualized (Azure/VMware) environments with enterprise architecture.
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365 suite of services (O365, Teams-based telephony, Power Platform, EMS).
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities including the ability to defend recommendations and decisions developed through analysis of business needs, risks and technical robustness/purity.
  • Demonstrated high level of information security awareness and be able to educate and empower others on how to protect sensitive data and systems, including identifying and mitigating human-related security risks.
  • Excellent team, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce and lead others to produce clear and concise documentation.
  • The ability to influence and manage business, technical, and third-party teams to common goals.
  • University education in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary or industry specific certifications (e.g. ITIL Service Manager, PMP, CISSP) preferred.
  • Technical knowledge/experience in supporting Dynamics 365, message integration engines, and enterprise portals are a definite asset.
